‘Linga’ is a privately owned, timber-built chalet occupying an elevated and secluded position overlooking the delightful bay of Inverkirkaig near Lochinver. From the lounge windows, one looks across the bay towards a wooded hillside and the mouth of the River Kirkaig, famous for its salmon fishing.  On sunny evenings, the setting sun fills the bay and shoreline with the gorgeous warm light so sought after by the photographer.

The ground on which ‘Linga’ stands was originally a croft, extending to around two acres, and this is shared with the original croft house and seven other chalets, each individually owned.  It is rare for all these properties to be occupied at the same time, but even if they were, holidaymakers would have no sense of privacy being compromised, due to the layout of the properties, and the available space.

‘Linga’ provides a comfortable and convenient base for exploring and enjoying the wonderful, unspoiled coastal and mountain scenery of Assynt, Wester Ross and beyond.  There are superb beaches within easy reach, ideal for family days out, and for those who merely wish to relax amidst peaceful and beautiful surroundings, the area is unbeatable.

The fishing village of Lochinver is only 2.5 miles away, and through its well stocked shops, provides for most needs of the visitor.

‘Linga’ is owned and run by Ronald and Sheina MacKenzie. We bought the chalet in 2002, primarily to use ourselves as a holiday home in a truly wonderful part of Scotland where we also have family ties.  When we are not using the chalet ourselves we are happy to let it out to others so that they also may fall under Assynt’s spell, and get to love all it has to offer.

We ask potential guests to note that the chalet is a strictly non-smoking establishment, and we regret that we do not accept pets.

The chalet provides comfortable accommodation for four persons and is fully equipped, including bed linen and towels. There is double glazing throughout, and electric storage heaters ensure that the living area and bathroom are maintained at a comfortable temperature in the cooler seasons of the year.  Both bedrooms have wall-hung convector heaters.  Electricity charges are included in the rental.

A large open-plan living space, incorporating the kitchen, dining, and lounge areas, has a southerly aspect and looks down on the bay and beach, just yards away. There are two comfortable high-backed chairs and a sofa providing seating for five people in the lounge area.  There is a bookcase with a small collection of books and games, and there is a modern freesat tv with integral dvd player.  A small music system incorporating radio, cd player and iPad dock completes the facilities for entertainment.  A telephone is available for incoming and emergency calls, and the chalet has wi-fi access.

The kitchen is equipped with a modern electric cooker, microwave oven, fridge-freezer and automatic washer-dryer, and there is an ample provision of cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery etc.  The dining area is furnished with a rectangular pine table and four beech chairs.

With its south – facing direction, the living accommodation is bright and warm.

Sleeping accomodation is provided in two bedrooms, one double, one twin, both equipped with a bedside unit and a  chest of drawers.

The bathroom has an electric shower fitted over the bath.

Outside there is a dedicated parking space for one car, with additional parking possible on the front grassed area.  There is also a small area of decking at the front door which offers the opportunity to relax and eat in the open air, when conditions are right.
